Our story

The Belle Epoque Centre will introduce you to the most beautiful time we had in the 19th and 20th centuries: the belle époque. This period has its glory years between 1870 and 1914, during which the European bourgeoisie enjoyed remarkable prosperity.
Blankenberge then developed into an important seaside resort with major architectural achievements such as the Casino, the Pier, the coastal villas and large hotels for the emerging tourism.

Three belle-époque villas, dating from 1894, were restored and converted into a visitor centre. You will be immersed in the carefree and festive atmosphere that Blankenberge exuded at the time of the belle époque. An interactive exhibition with posters, postcards, games, clothing, photos and film material tells a nostalgic story. Admire some beautiful examples of the wall tile decoration and discover what art nouveau meant in Blankenberge.
